Hasselblad X1D Review: The Worlds First Compact Medium Format By Sebastian Oakley Hasselblad has been synonymous with medium format ever since it started production and they have always tried to push the boundaries of photography, X1D is no exception. On announcement the X1D was the first mirrorless medium format system to be produced allowing Hasselblad to develop a compact design but still keep the quality of medium format. The user interface for the X1D is extremely user friendly with big bold font on the LCD screen showing you all your camera settings and controls. Picking up the X1D I was instantly blown away regarding the build quality of this camera, the body is milled from a single piece of aluminium and everything felt perfect, I really liked the push main dial allowing the user to select which mode they want and then pushing it down into the body making it flat with the top plate, so nothing can be selected by accident while using or traveling around with the camera. The main aim of this camera is to have the portability to take it anywhere and have the ability of medium format and I have to say it does the job very well. While out and about I didn’t feel the weight of the camera was slowing me down, something that you would notice if carrying a H6D around all day. 86 | The Gentleman Magazine “Powered by The LCD not only displays a preview of your captured images but can also be used as a viewfinder, which I found to be useful when I just wanted to take a quick picture while walking down the street or taking a quick picture of a wild rose. , Security in Motion”
