Longines Global Champions Tour Brings Out
The Stars In Monaco
Bill Gates, Bruce Springsteen and Princess Caroline of
Hannover line-up to cheer on their show jumping offspring
Monte Carlo, the home of high rollers, plays host this weekend
to the seventh leg of the 2017 Longines Global Champions
Tour (LGCT), with the world’s top riders gathering to compete
in a thrilling battle for the top spot in the championship.
The 15-event Tour circuit plays out in spectacular destinations
around the world and sees riders competing for the combined
season prize money of €23 million for the Tour and the Global
Champions League (GCL) teams. Riders, including Jennifer
Gates, Georgina Bloomberg and Jessica Springsteen are all
taking part in the Tour individually and in GCL teams, with
World and Olympic champions.
Jennifer’s parents, philanthropists Bill and Melinda Gates,
joined the enthusiastic crowd to watch her compete in the
opening competition on her horse Luftikus S, and cheer on her
team the Paris Panthers in GCL.
They weren’t the only famous faces watching their offspring in
the stunning setting for the LGCT just metres away from the
world-famous Monaco harbour, which is packed with multi-
million pound super-yachts. “The Boss” Bruce Springsteen and
his wife Patti, supported daughter Jessica, as she secured third
place in the opening LGCT class.
