Established in 1870 , the Concours Général Agricole aims to select and reward the best French products and the best breeding stock . This event is highly anticipated by professionals and the public , and recognized in France and the world over . Because it is organised under the control of the state and follows a rigorous and preset selections , the Concours Général Agricole is known for its impartiality and the value of the results . In 2016 16754 wines were entered by 3848 producers and 3227 wines made it into the final round .
Each wine has been examined by some of the best ‘ critics ’ ( judges ) in the business . Gold , silver or bronze medal winners receive recognition from the French Ministry of Agriculture , great prestige amongst their peers ; and the general public . The ‘ Présentation du concours des vins ’ aims to select and reward the best French wines presented by the many Domaines and Chateaux and wine cooperatives .

MIRABEAU WINS double GOLD AT THE CONCOURS GénéraL DE paris
Mirabeau is proud and excited to announce that it has received two of the highest distinctions at the Concours Général Agricole de Paris 2017 , winning double gold for Mirabeau Pure and Mirabeau Etoile . Likened to the Oscars of the wine world , the Concours Général Agricole de Paris is recognised for its impartiality , which is the result of a rigorous process of regional preselection and final selection in Paris . Mirabeau is especially delighted that of the two premium rosé samples submitted both were awarded this prestigious accolade . A very rare event .
The competition is judged blind and the jury made of a selection of wine professionals , such as oenologists and growers , and highly experienced consumers . A tasting table is composed of 6 jurors and on average 15 wines are tasted during the final from over 16,000 samples entered . Wines are awarded medals reflective of their level of quality and not on a relative basis ( i . e . if the jurors feel no wine meets their criteria , no medals will be awarded ).

The ‘ Concours Général Agricole ’ ( CGA ) is a French competition organised within the framework of the international agricultural fair in Paris and is a unique platform for ‘ agricultural ’ products such as cheese and wine . The Paris International Agricultural Show ( Salon International de l ’ Agriculture ) is an annual agricultural fair , that takes place at the end of February or beginning of March at the Porte de Versailles in Paris . It is one of the world ’ s largest and most important agricultural shows , drawing larger crowds than almost any other event in Paris .
