Epostbag ditor’s Send your letters to our office (address on page 3) or email [email protected] n Out of control Dear Gazette, Good for the hotel workers union who criticised the lack of regulation on drinking in the allinclusive sector (News, last issue). Bar and restaurant owners have to follow strict licensing rules, and if they break them it won’t be long before they pay the price. Nevertheless, you don’t have to go too far to find establishments where the rules don´t seem to exist. Other destinations may want to trade on their reputation as a cheap place to get hammered day and night, but it´s something that Lanzarote should probably avoid if it wants to keep its good image. Regards Jamie, Costa Teguise. www.directfs.co.uk n Rain, rain… Dear Gazette, How difficult is it to sink a few working drains? The ancient Romans managed it without any machinery at all. Yet here in Puerto del Carmen, after works that cost millions and would, we were told, result in a full drainage system separating sewage from rainwater run-offs, we end up with flooded streets and dirty beaches once again. If the money didn’t end up in a nice new drainage system, then where did it go? George Carson, Puerto del Carmen n Where was Who? Dear Gazette, Our son is a Doctor Who fanatic, so when we told him we´d be visiting Lanzarote at Christmas he was jumping for joy because he´d read that the recent episode, Kill The Moon, was set on the island. Can you tell us exactly where the episode was filmed and whether it´s open to the public. Thanks Mrs. I Johnson, Hull R eaders are reminded that views and comment expressed within the Postbag pages are those of the contributors and may not necessarily reflect the opinions or standpoint of The Gazette staff. It should also be noted that The Gazette is an independent publication free from political persuasion or governmental censorship. Ed: The episode was mostly filmed in the crater of the Volcán del Cuervo, Mrs Johnson. It´s open to the public, but a little off the beaten track, so you´ll need to hire a car or arrange a taxi. The volcano´s just off the LZ56 road between La Geria and Mancha Blanca – you can´t miss its sharksfin shape. There is some limited parking space next to the wall-shaped monument that separates the Municipality of Tias from that of Tinajo. After that it´s an easy walk along the lava path. n Less cruise control, please Dear Editor, I was very interested in the Cruising Season article in the December edition and I agree that the cruising seasons for Lanzarote are rapidly improving thanks to the huge investment made in improving the docking, shopping and general passenger improvement facilities in Arrecife.
