INTERVIEW JH: Do you think it’s had its day? JR: You’ve got to remember it’s a worldwide destination, people forget that. It brings in masses amounts of money, this is what Soho does as it stands today. If you get rid of that then what is there that makes London very gay centric? Where’s its soul? You can argue that it’s had its day and no one goes to the bars anymore, fair enough - (they’ve) got to change and (they’ve) got to make them relevant. It’s lovely to walk around. Lots of people holding hands. I love walking through Soho. If you can please get on the Save Soho campaign website. JH: So are local authorities or the Government doing enough to support the scene? JR: Government no. Westminster is not in touch with us. They’re not in touch with the community. This is one square mile, why don’t we come up with something that protects it. It can be done.
