Braving wind and rain and the
infamous St Jude’s Storm, party
revellers were out in full force at the
Café de Paris on Sunday 27th
October for the Wig Party Masked
Ball. The Wig Party, and its sister
the Masked Ball, are usually
highlights of the year, raising funds
for the National Aids Trust, and this
one was no exception.

had stressed that only masks were
obligatory, the majority had dressed
in full fancy dress.
By the time we arrived at around
8pm the party was in full swing and
it was fantastic to see how many
people had gone to a great deal of
effort.
Hosted by the vibrant Chris
Fitchew, and with the fabulous La
Voix (accompanied of course by her
gorgeous Va Va Voom Boys)
spearheading the entertainment,
and music by the cream of London’s
gay scene DJs, all of whom had
given their services free, this was
indeed a night of many delights.
The team had done a terrific job of
decorating the place, converting the
glamorous Café de Paris into a
It being Halloween, the theme was
Dia de los Muertos (day of the
dead), and most of the revellers had
taken full advantage of it.
There was a competition for best
mask, though, in my opinion, the
winners were a little disappointing,
as none of them had really taken
much notice of the Day of the Dead
theme, leaning more towards its
sub-heading of #deadglam. Not that
I’m complaining.
There are so few times in the year
when we get the chance to show off
how fabulous we are, and, as you
can see from the accompanying
photographs, there was a fair
amount of invention on show.
