are also many resources and organisations
out there where you can ask for help.
!
And what would you encourage people
to do in their everyday lives to combat
bullying?
Become an Ally! StandUp!
!
This is, perhaps, the most important
question I would like to ask, which is
how can those reading this article
support the StandUp Foundation?
People that support us do so in a variety of
ways – mainly purchasing StandUp
merchandise,
donating money, and
conducting
fundraising activities.
We’ve had people
running marathons,
doing a rowathon
and holding annual
fundraising dinners
to name a few.
!
Would now be a
good time to
mention that the
Ben Cohen 2014
calendar has just
been released?
And where can
you pick one up?
Thanks! The 2014
Ben Cohen StandUp
Foundation calendar
is now available for
purchase at all

Stephen Fry recently published an
open letter to the Olympic Committee
urging them to boycott the Winter
Olympics because of the Russian
Government’s stance and policies in
respect of the Russian LGBT
community. As a sportsman, what are
your thoughts on the subject?
I think that the sports field ought to be a fair
place for all where people are judged on
ability only.
!
I would, of course, be in trouble from
all sides if I did not ask you about your
involvement with
Strictly, what
made you decide
that now was the
time to enter the
competition?
The opportunity was
presented to me and
I knew that by
participating I would
increase the
awareness of our
cause – so I went for
it.
Is it correct
that you

on the dance floor
– but which is the
more challenging,
rugby or dancing?
What are the
different
challenges they
pose, or are they
quite similar?
Dancing is not
challenging me
physically – but
mentally it is quite hard.
!
Which has been your favourite dance
to date and which dance are you
looking forward to doing the most?
BC - I liked the Salsa the best – it really
allowed me to loosen up and do what I am
used to – throwing people around! I also
really enjoyed the Rhumba, salsa and jive.
!
Is it correct that you initially
considered having a male dance
partner?
Yes, in an informal conversation. I didn’t
make a formal request.
Before taking on this role, you were a
successful rugby player. Do you miss
playing Rugby?
I don’t miss playing rugby. I had my time. I
love what I do now.
Are you able to single out a highlight
from your sporting career?
Winning the 2003 World Cup!
