BAHRAINSPORTS APRIL 2014 I TORO ROSSO 24 t h e g a m e sports magazine t is probably a little unfair to have Toro Rosso amongst the teams expected to be in the back-end of the grid, especially following a solid pre-season. Both Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne and Russian rookie Daniil Kvyat were in the top 12 of the overall timesheet during the second week of Bahrain tests, which was even better than their sister squad, World champions Red Bull. This, despite the well-documented troubles of power unit suppliers Renault. But both Vergne and Kvyat have been excited about finally getting the season started and finally seeing where they really stand amongst the entire field. “I’m hoping that it will be different this year, although who knows what we can expect as the championship starts,” said Vergne ahead of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, which would mark his third season with Toro Rosso. Debutant Kvyat is looking forward to starting his maiden Grand Prix at just 19 years old. “This year, no one has any idea what to expect as you can tell from what happened in Jerez and Bahrain,” he said. “It should be very interesting and I can’t wait to be on the grid for my first Grand Prix.” THE GAME
