B U S I N E S S \\ Federated Charities Offers Incubator Space to Assist Nonprofits BY ELIN ROSS, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, FEDERATED CHARITIES The Lloyd and Charlotte Hoover Charity Incubator Space, a small, low-cost, flexible space available to emerging nonprofit organizations in Frederick, launched at the beginning of 2017. In the incubator space, Federated Charities is also sharing their 100 years of expertise to help new organizations move from concept to implementation. In addition to the incubator space, these organizations have access to quarterly training sessions, underwritten by Federated Charities, to help them focus their energy on providing better services to the community. The official vision of the Hoover Charity Incubator space is to use the assets of the Federated Charities building to support the efforts of emerging programs that support the well-being of residents in Frederick and provide services to needy families and individuals. Federated Charities has promoted the value of collaborative space and believes that when nonprofits can save on overhead costs, they have more resources to use for the programs and services that directly impact individuals and local communities. Tenancy in the Hoover Incubator, or in a traditional 12-month lease with Federated Charities, brings added value to partner programs and clients by sharing unique expertise, collaboration and maximization of resources. Federated Charities provides a visible space in the heart of Downtown Frederick where organizations and the community can support these programs and their clients. The mission of Federated Charities for more than 100 years has been to provide compassionate community services in Frederick and offer 22 thefrederickguide.com education and resources that support nonprofits in a collaborative environment so they can better serve their local clients. The intention is to promote this mission by providing attractive, centrally located and cost-effective space for nonprofit tenant partners, whether they rent for one day or 12 months. Featuring amenities such as free WiFi, file storage, access to a 15-seat conference room, mail delivery, monthly “office hours,” a kitchenette and a color copier, tenancy in the Hoover Incubator can be an effective way for a small nonprofit organization to establish a presence in the heart of Downtown Frederick.
