For the unit Adaptability in Geography, the Grade 6 looked at different types of Maps and the main features of maps. They then had to adapt by creating their own maps onto a digital programme that they were not familiar with called Jamboard. They could choose one of the following type of maps:

1. Pirate treasure map

2. Map showing the trail of a quest [an adventure with a goal at the end]

3. Fantasy island map

4. Theme park with fun things to do

They could be creative and include any features they liked as long as they included the grid, compass rose, scale and key with symbols. The two classes came up with a variety of maps using different styles and sources of inspiration. Overall, the students enjoyed this activity through which they had to integrate what they had learnt throughout the unit using a new digital medium.
