On the first day of these matches we played against an unexpectedly strong Romanian team. Although the team struggled in all three matches that day as we expected the Romanian team to be much weaker, I managed to win my match and the team gained 2 and a half points on the day, putting us in a good position. On the second day of the head to head matches we played Poland, who went into the tournament as the clear favourites.

After struggling from the beginning again, I managed to come back from a 4 hole deficit and halved my match. However, this was sadly not enough as we lost the semi final 2-1 in points to the eventual winners; Poland. Due to our semi final loss we would play a third-place playoff against Ukraine on the last day of the tournament. I was drawn against the best player at the tournament, ranked inside the top 100 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, and fought up to the 17th hole where a silly mistake cost me the match.

However, my teammates won the other two matches which meant we beat Ukraine 2-1 and finished in third place for the overall tournament result.

Although the whole team felt that we could have done better on every day of the tournament, we were very

pleased with a 3rd place finish and a place on the podium. It was an amazing experience and an honour to represent my country at the senior level.

The Show must Go On!

Despite the restrictions and the limitations we are facing the Drama students have not let this tamper with their creativity. They have been busy creating their devised pieces. One would have thought that this year the focus might be on the pandemic but they have all decided that we have heard enough about it and decided to focus on other themes that they feel will have a stronger impact on an audience. So in line with the CIE regulations they donned their visors, connected with the students in Distance Learning through zoom and had their first run throughs. This gave them the opportunity to get feedback from their teachers and peers to continue on their journey to create a powerful performance.
