Former VIS Students - Where Are They Now?

Former Verdala students and staff members are a special breed. They are well-travelled, internationally-minded global citizens. And now we’re building a database of Alumni to network and use their expertise to help the next generations of VIS students.

After graduating from Verdala in 1995, I started my undergrad degree at Richmond University, London. The Advanced placement exams which I sat at school gave me extra credits at University allowing me to graduate in 3 years instead of 4. I majored in Communications and had a minor in Art. I broke my neck at the end of my last year, doing a back flip on a bouncy castle at the University Spring-Fest (which I had organised, as Chair of the Programme Board) but I still managed to get on stage and give the farewell speech at graduation.

I then went on to do a Masters in Marketing Communication at Westminster University in London and after worked for the National Magazines company which publishes popular magazines like ‘Cosmopolitan’ in their marketing department, just off Carnaby Street, London. What an amazing experience that was!

I then got the opportunity to come back to Malta and manage the soon-to-be opened IMAX theatre in my family’s company, Eden Leisure Group. I later moved into the marketing department and ran that for several years. At the same time I got married and started a family of my own. My role since changed completely and I now take care of the Operations of the group as well as manage the properties.

Apart from being a mum of 2 teenage girls (who remind me so much of me at their age) and working in a demanding position, I still make time for me. I’m very involved in theatre (which I first got into at Verdala, participating in all school plays) and perform once or twice a year. I'm also active in other areas of the arts (I work with Malta’s National Dance Company); I love to paint, tennis and exercise, travel and doing my bit for the environment. I guess you could say that I suffer from FOMO and need to keep busy and challenged!
