Alumni Speak

VIS Alumni - Where Are They Now?

I graduated from Verdala in 1991, leaving not only my school but an extremely extended family and I consider myself blessed to be part of such an amazing institution, where no matter who you were or where you were from, you were part of the Verdala family.

I initially continued my higher education in Wales, obtaining a National Diploma in Hotel and Catering Institutional Management and spent quite some years working as management within the hospitality industry. I had amazing experiences meeting many incredible people, including musicians, movie stars, football legends and heads of states, including overseeing Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth’s banquet during the Commonwealth Heads of State.

In 2013 I took a chance and followed my dream to become a pilot and since then have not looked back. Currently I work as a Flight Instructor and Commercial Pilot and am also the Chief Technical Knowledge Instructor for the academy and have also recently become a Flight Examiner. As a Flight Instructor, I teach students to reach the standards for Private and Commercial Pilot License and also future Flight Instructors, whereas flying Commercially I carry out Sightseeing flights around the Islands, Air Taxi to various locations and Aerial Photography and Surveillance flights.

I am lucky enough to have one of the best offices in the world, thousands of feet above the Earth with amazing views.

I wish all students the absolute best for your careers and my only advice is “Follow your dreams”.

My time at Verdala was unforgettable. I had many different and wonderful experiences throughout high school such as being the leader of Peace lab, where I also became an Ambassador of Peace. I was also able to travel for art trips to London, Venice and Madrid where special memories were created. Once I graduated from Verdala last year, I decided to major in Accounting at the American University in Malta and also achieve the ACCA degree so I can graduate from university with two degrees. Studying both IGCSE and IB at Verdala allowed me to experience different subjects and understand which ones I enjoyed the most, which eventually resulted in me choosing to study accounting. Verdala holds a special place in my heart and I cannot wait to revisit campus.
