Distance Learning in the Middle School

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Ms. Sarah Boylin - Middle School Principal

Our Middle School students have truly embraced the 8 IMYC key personal dispositions over this time. The personal dispositions identified by the IMYC are key to developing both academic and personal growth within learners and include: Communication, resilience, morality, responsibility, adaptability, enquiry, thoughtfulness and respect. It is true to say that all MS students haveā€¦

Demonstrated great RESILIENCE through ADAPTING to the online learning environment , having to COMMUNICATE in a different way, becoming more RESPONSIBLE for their own learning, having to be THOUGHTFUL and RESPECTFUL in their approach to their studies , ensuring their work is completed ethically showing their strong MORALS and in truly embracing an INQUIRY- based approach to their work.

Therefore, I want to celebrate our successes over the last few months as a Middle School and want to share some great highlights of our learning!

As we draw to the close of the scholastic year 2019/20, it is fair to say it has been a funny few months. With us reverting to a distance learning model back in March, what seems a lifetime ago now, we have had a different end to the school year.

As I sit in my office, in an empty Middle School building and ponder what to write, my mind is naturally drawn to talk about the Covid-19 pandemic and write about the many trials and tribulations and the challenges of distance learning. However, I have chosen not to focus upon this, and instead have chosen to write about the many successes of our amazing Middle School community, who have risen to the challenge and made the most of it!
