Grade 7 – Relationships

A graphic novel style adaptation of Ingo by Helen Dunmore. This is the section on Chapter 4, exploring the relationship between the two protagonists

Where I Come From...

the sea washes up on the shore leaving little gems of joy,

joy which i feel when i see the cute faces of my animals,

animals with soft, long, fluffy hair,

hair brown, blonde and curly just like a tangled string of fairy lights,

lights which someday will be the border of my bedroom mirror,

mirror which i look in every day to see my earrings,

earrings which sparkle in the bright yellow sun,

sun rays like the colour of lushes fruit salads,

salads which get eaten before games,

games that make everyone tense yet full of happiness

happiness that Sheffield United football players feel

Where I Come From...

people carry their seeds as the sign of new life,

plant and care for the seed as part of their living,

The seed and the tree describes the new person.

For me, it was cherry, for the life of the first girl

My brother was oak, for the firstborn

Where I come from, people carry the soul,

and the life of the people they loved.
