Successive Leaders: Alfred Calleja + Aldo Forleo (Grade 11)

Studio_V is a team of photographers from our school community, spanning over different grades. This is a relatively new CAS group, meaning we encourage more people to join as it is a lot of fun and a good way to bond with people from different grades. Over the course of the past two years, as a team we have organized multiple excursions to explore both our creativity and photographic skills together, namingly visiting Mdina and Ghajn Tuffieha. We are an integral part of the community, we take photos at school events, and our group has been incorporated into other CAS projects, for example if you are in Boosters you can help at the event and still take photos - doing two CAS projects at once.

We have done fun monthly competitions on a group decided theme, then we vote on the photos and then discussed why a photo was better than the others in order to improve our photographic skills collectively. At the same time we learn how to take criticism, helping us grow over all as students. Teamwork has been a vital element in this group, the leaders work as a team and distribute workload, the members work together on photo excursions each being subject to one’s photographic experiment making the overall process fun and insightful. For the Winter event, we sold postcards with the photos taken by our photographers in order to raise both money and awareness about the Association for Abandoned Animals. As in Studio_V we believe that photography is more than taking a photo, it is a mode of communication, a way to express your ideas and emotions to others. Hence, as a group we strive for ethical communication to express our opinions and beliefs in their true form.
