Sports Highlights

The whole week was a huge success with all of the community getting active and enjoying physical activity and we look forward to next year's event already! Everyone is reminded that physical activity is not just for this week but for life. There are many opportunities in ASAs, clubs and free time to get involved in sport and exercise and all members of the community are encouraged to do so.

Remember,

Healthy Heart= Healthy Mind!

Grade 7 Gaelic Football

At the end of the first halfterm, before the break, the grade 7 students participated in an interclass tournament. This was done as part of their summative assessment of this unit.

Both teams performed very well and showed good understanding and knowledge of the game and rules. Scores in the goal were worth 3 points while scores over the bar, between the posts, were worth one point.

Considering this was a new sport for most of these students, they performed well and gave a competitive display of football. Most importantly, the students showed excellent communication skills and enjoyed their time while being active.

U-16 Boys Football

Friday the 8th Nov marked the date of the first inter-schools’ competition this year. Our team of u-16 Boys football players, coached by Mr.Moseley, headed to St. Aloysius College. There were 9 schools and they were divided in groups of three and got 2 games each. They played against St.Catherine’s College and St. Aloysius College.

Even though the first game started with a goal for the other team, our boys took control of the game and by half time the score was 5-1 to us. The game ended with a few more goals and a win for us at 7-2.

The second game turned out to be a bit tougher. Our boys gave their all and managed to score but suffered a few goals and ended up losing the game and unfortunately also a place in the final.

We would like to thank all the boys for doing their best, for being a good sport and also for being very well behaved. We look forward to the next competition.
