Grade 7 - Tradition

Beliefs and customs from the past have a powerful

effect on our lives today.

Grade 7 spent a morning focusing on the host nation of Malta and started the morning off by learning some Maltese! Students learnt about Maltese Legends and Folklore and created their own performances based around these featuring the likes of Il-Gawgaw and the Grey Lady! Students also found out more about the Traditional Maltese floor tiles found in many of the Old Townhouses and created their own stencil, painting their designs on the Middle School Playground. And finally students prepared and cooked a Traditional Maltese Soup called “Kusksu” made from local vegetables including “ful” - Broad Beans in Maltese. It was a very interesting morning and really got students thinking about the big idea of Tradition.

The students participated in a day of Mini Olympics in which they completed a variety of tasks and challenges. Some tasks required teamwork and communication, while others tested the students strength and endurance and others challenged their mental strength. The students discussed ideas and developed strategies in order to find the best way to overcome the problems and barriers that they faced. It was a fun and enjoyable day of activities in which the students developed their understanding of the big idea.

Grade 8 - Challenge

Facing up to or overcoming problems and barriers increases possibilities in our lives.
