Grade 10 working on their IGCSE coursework. The students are working on the theme Architecture. Their research has included analysing and being influenced by artists who use buildings in their work as well as the students taking their own photographs during the Valletta walk we went on. The class are now developing and refining their ideas and continuing to experiment with media and surfaces in order to plan and create a final outcome for the theme. I am impressed with their hard work, skills and dedication.
The Grade 9's are working on a project about Identity. They have been drawing self portraits using a range of media and researching Artists work to influence their ideas. So far they have looked at Teesha Moore, Sheperd Fairey, Vince Low and Modigliani as well as several others. They have also begun to analyse artwork by focusing on the Formal Elements of Art. The students have experimented with mono printing. collage and observational drawing using pen and pencil. They are practicing all these skills in order to fulfil the assessment criteria for the IGCSE.
