During PINK October staff and students at Verdala came to school wearing something PINK.

We had merchandise from the charity to sell at Lunch time and a number of Year 9 students volunteered to help. They worked through their morning break and lunchtime to take the items around the Middle and High school sites.

The students had a variety of selling techniques, including setting up a stall on one of the tables wear students eat their lunch in High School, mobile units going to Middle School and a couple walking round both sites advertising what was on sale, the price and taking orders. They also collected loose change from people who were asked if they would like to donate it.

What a wonderful group of potential business executives we have in Verdala.

Over 2 days they managed to collect 300 Euros.

Well done!

Ms. Sarah Shuttleworth - Chemistry Teacher

Breast Cancer Awareness

Year 10 in their first Chemistry rotation have been working collaboratively to share problem solving tasks. Students volunteered to be the “teacher” and impart their knowledge.

During the unit on Organic Chemistry, they have learnt where Oil comes from, how we get the products and relate them to everyday experiences and uses, such as polymers Nylon, Fuel Methane Butane and Alcohols. In preparation for their test they became a “teacher” to a small group, setting tasks and then explaining the answers.
