New Staff 2019-2021 Introductions

I’m Kathleen Chut, and I’m super excited to join VIS this coming school year as an Elementary Teacher. I’m originally from Richmond Hill, Ontario in Canada, but I’m currently teaching in Hong Kong. Fun fact; I actually grew up in Hong Kong for part of my childhood before moving back to Canada. Other tidbits about me: I love dogs, board games, and I’m a Raptors fan. I also loooove travelling, which is why coming to Malta is going to be extra exciting and I can’t wait for this new adventure! I also can’t wait to learn more about the school and join its community.

See you soon!

I was born in Australia, began Primary school in Malaysia, hold a British passport, have a home in Hungary and I’m moving to Malta from Chiang Mai, Thailand. I have been to Malta and Gozo on holiday and loved the landscape, buildings, history, water, food and fossils. My hobbies and interests include travel, art, theatre, music, history, reading, walking, swimming, playing badminton, watching cooking shows (although I don’t cook) and eating out. Chiang Mai is landlocked but I hope that, once I get to Malta, I will also be able to try more water sports. I look forward to meeting all of you soon and to being an Elementary Teacher at VIS!

My name is Paul Appleby and I am excited to be moving to Malta and being a Drama Teacher at Verdala. I have visited Malta before and thought at the time that it would be great to live and work there – and now I really am! I have been teaching for over twenty years in Australia, England, Hungary and all over Thailand; I am currently in the jungles of Northern Thailand in Chiang Mai, and have been teaching here for the last three years. My interests include Drama, Travel, and Food, and I combine all three whenever I can. I am really looking forward to working at Verdala and meeting you all, returning to Europe, and being near the sea again.

My full name is Liliana Patricia Gómez Murillo, but it is natural for everyone to call me Lili. I am Colombian and have worked in education for more than 20 years in my home country as well as in India and in Germany, where I am living right now. I speak English, French, German, and of course, Spanish, which is my mother tongue. As IBDP Coordinator, I am very excited and honored to be part of the prestigious Verdala International School, well recognized for its professional environment. In addition, it will be a wonderful experience to live in beautiful Malta.
