Verdala Book Day

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Ms. Sarah Shuttleworth- Chemistry Teacher

|27|

Middle School had a marvelous time celebrating Verdala Book Day! Students and staff took photos of themselves reading in interesting and unique places to encourage reading anytime, anywhere. On character day we arrived at school dressed as our favourite book characters and shared stories.

Students were asked to produce a hexagaon shaped tile.

All of the year 8 students have produced one and they have been scanned and forwarded to the University where they will be part of the mosaic.

This will be published in a magazine (details below) in the next couple of months.

Verdala students work will also be made into a Mosaic and displayed in the Middle School Science Laboratory.

Dimitri Ivanovich Mendeleev was a Russian chemist who lived from 1834 to 1907. He created the Periodic Law, relating chemical properties to an element’s position in the periodic table. Although he did not discover any elements, his contribution to what we know as the Periodic Table today is indisputable.

To celebrate the 150 year anniversary our Year 8 students took part in an International activity organised by The University of Waterloo.
