As you may know, the PE Department, with the help of the Student Councils, have been working on introducing a House system to Verdala International School. Over the last number of weeks, students have submitted their suggested names for these houses. Almost 100 suggestions were received. The Student Councils from Elementary and Secondary worked together to narrow these suggestions down to four. These were then put to the community to vote on their favorite. The winning entry was Elements. This means our House Teams will be:
Blue: Water Green: Earth Red: Fire
The purpose of these Houses is to encourage team spirit and collaboration among our community. Students and Staff will be in the same house as their family members and will be a part of that house for the duration of their time in Verdala. This is to encourage ownership of and pride in their Houses.
The first House event will be the Sports Day on April 10th and so as part of this initiative, sports t-shirts are going to be made available to students and staff for purchase through the Boosters store. These sports t-shirts will be the colour of the House, with the House name on the back and the Verdala logo on the front.
We look forward to the Houses system encouraging Sportsmanship, Community Bonds and Pride over the coming semester and we thank you for your support and enthusiasm in this endeavor.
