During this term the Verdala Science club have been:

Carrying out Forensic Science techniques to help them produce evidence to identify suspects. The tasks have included:

Fingerprinting people and taking latent prints.

Using Flame tests to identify metal cations found in

poisons.

Microscope work, looking at hair and fibre samples as well

as the cells from liver and eyeballs where toxins can

accumulate.

Identification of anions found in samples of trace fluids

around the scene.

Analysing blood splatter patterns.

This was then followed by the scenario of a crime scene where the budding Forensic analysts put their skills to the test to find the culprit using "evidence" gathered from the scene.

After the completion of the Forensics unit the students began activities relating to kitchen Chemistry. Students made sherbet and honeycomb goodies which they enjoyed! They then went on to make Slime and Play Doh.

The new term starts soon and places will be available should

anyone from Middle School like to join.
