"We are super excited about the year ahead and creating as many performance opportunities as possible for all drama and music students throughout the year. Classes are buzzing with excitement..."

Drama and Music at Verdala have started with a bang this year! Ms Quick, Ms Laryea and Ms Said are super excited about the year ahead and creating as many performance opportunities as possible for all drama and music students throughout the year. Classes are buzzing with excitement as sounds of the Ukulele and the famous Cup Song Rhythm echo throughout the building.

The Middle School Vocal Group has kicked off with their lunchtime rehearsal sessions and the students who have signed up to perform at the Christmas Concert, have started to plan their programme.

Sign up sheets have gone up in the Middle School music teaching room for those interested in getting involved in all things musical. Ukulele Club and Rockschool are a taster of what’s to come, as Ms.Laryea looks forward to building on this area of school life.

The 10 MINUTE TAKEOVER is a new initiative that Ms Laryea has introduced into all her class music lessons and is something that everyone is enjoying. Through the course of the academic year, each student will have the opportunity to run the 10 MINUTE TAKEOVER, during which they will be expected to share something musical with us all. This could be a performance on an instrument, the sharing of a piece of music that they enjoy or the introducing to a Cup Rhythm that they have learned from their previous school in China! We have had some really exciting takeovers, which have allowed both myself and the students to get a better insight into the musical experiences and talents of our students here in Middle School.
