The Cover Uncovered

Huntington Beach has always been one of my favorite spots to float tube. The fishing is always pretty good and someday it can be great. This day was one of those great days.

After launching from mud beach (not my favorite spot to launch) I kicked out with GT and on the first cast I felt the tug. Setting the hook I new I had something special.

The best part of this is it was on my new Cyclone Sixgill fishing reel. I set the drag to allow it to take a little extra and started to play it. The fight was over and I had one heck of a skunk buster to start the day.

The fish in question is a Saltwater Bass better known as a Sand Bass. While this may not look big to some it is a very nice sized saltwater bass. It was caught with a Sixgill Cyclone Reel, with 30 lb braid. As most know I like to fish what I call the seeker rig and jika on the bottom and a dropshot on the top. Both lures were 4" flukes and it pick the fluke on the jika.
