Bending the Guard
the Way to perfect swimbaits riggings
I might be crazy but I have always hated rigging my swimbaits with jig heads that have weed guards. They simply never went on right and most often I would prefer to simply cut the weed guard off then try to slide my bait on and have that messed up swimmer on the hook.
So here is why I might be crazy there is a simple way to make this work, and I think I always knew this. But I wanted to share because I am sure there are other in the same boat as me. Here are a few pictures of the stages of proper weed guard jig head riggings.
First par up the right size jig head with the right size swimbait or plastic, I like my hook at least half way down the back of the bait. Also be sure to line them up so you know where the hook should come through on the back of the bait.
