Choosing LUre colors

what, when and why, I'm confussed

Did you know that it is the rod and cones in our eyes that help us to see the colors around us. It is a very complex human factor that makes us unique. While learning about what colors of lures to use in what situation I came across something interesting. So here it is most fish have the same rods and cones we have as humans, which means they see color almost the same as we do. Armed with this info we should really be thinking about the colors of our lures each and every time out.

I would like to keep all this pretty simple because the easier it is to pick your colors the more likely we are willing put this new knowledge into practice.Let’s start by understanding how light is distorted by water depth. Light can only reach so far before it is distorted and this leads to lure color change under the water. For understanding we will discuss the primary colors Blue, Green, Red, Orange, and Yellow. Basicly the deeper the lures runs in the water the less color can be seen. As natural light is broken up by the water and the deep you go the less natural light can be found. The first to go is the color red, at basicly

absorbed completely at depths of 20 to 25 feet. The next to go is Orange it is lost at 35 to 45 feet, and yellow follows at 65 to 75 feet deep.
