The emphasis in spring 1993 shifted to applications of the
mathematics explored in the fall and winter terms and to
the development of new computational methods for pattern
formation problems. John Chadam, Paul Fife (Utah), W.R.
Peltier (Toronto), and Peter Ortoleva (Indiana) put on a
workshop on Pattern Formation in Applications (March 23–28,
