A GOLD
STAR
DEALER
RECENTLY I sat down with Tony to chat
about Agriscope, Nottinghamshire and
Lincolnshire’s only Gold Star Dealer for
the Award-Winning Merlo Range of Tele-
handlers and Roto Machines. Tony is one
of three gentlemen behind this successful
business, the other two are Marc Shaw
and Richard Troop. All three be-
tween them have decades of
experience in sector, with
Tony having 40 years be-
hind him, which means
you’re getting a wealth
of knowledge and
experience when you
purchase a product
from Agriscope.
Tony, Marc and Richard
used to be part of anoth-
er dealership in the same
premises 3 years ago, which was
rented from the owner. Then the dealer
decided to close down the depot, which
prompted all three to put together a pro-
posal to Merlo to become the Merlo dealer
for the area. Which they accepted, and at
the beginning of 2018 they were awarded
an extension to their territory, which now
includes parts of Lincolnshire, Nottingham-
shire and Yorkshire or as Tony said, “South
of Lincoln to the sea right across to the
other side of the M1.”
Agriscope are
constantly expanding,
with 4 mechanics out on
the road carrying out any
technical support required by
customers. All the technical staff attend
regular factory based technical training
which ensures all machines are serviced
and repaired to highest standards. They
also employ several personnel part-time
at the depot, this means that Tony, Marc
and Richard are still very hands on. Going
into 2019, they`re discussing the possibil-
ity of increasing their territory, subject to
contracts. Their main plan is to increase
sales by 50%, in 2018 they shifted 20 units
and plan to sell 30 in 2019. Sold everything
from the lowest priced right through to the
most expensive.
Last year they also took on the MultiOne
franchise for this region, selling multi-
functional mini articulated loaders, with a
selection of 21 models ranging from 250Kgs
through to 2700 kgs lift with over 170 at-
tachments. They`re hoping to increase the
sales on this range going into 2019, so they
will be busy marketing and showcasing
them at various shows around the region.
It`s considered by many to be a great and
versatile machine that can get into some
tight spaces, which makes it great for
farms especially those with old buildings
where passageways are quite narrow. The
machine also has a tight turning circle,
is 4-wheel drive and has a centre pivot
steer which makes it very maneuverable.
It also performs well in areas of strength
and power, which the team at Agriscope
believe will help convince many to acquire
one.
