Keeping bang on target is something Tom Bayston is used to or perhaps shooting for the top. Either way he’s fully loaded now with his farm operation at Pollington Grange Farm and his Park Lodge Shooting School that now includes a new spa facility at West Cowick. ‘When wheat was something like £60 per tonne we knew we had to do something oth- er than produce food to sustain our lifestyle,’ says Tom. ‘We farm across just under 1000 acres with varying soil type from blow away sand to very heavy clay and this is the first year I can ever remember when we’ve had no livestock on the farm. Livestock is very intense and with our other business picking up at Park Lodge it requires more attention from myself and my wife Sharon. We’ve also stopped haulage that my dad set up years ago as we need to concentrate in the two things – arable farming and Park Lodge.’
