FARM NEWS 11 • AUG/SEP 2018 Strategic housing for tenant farmers Addington Fund is a farming charity, based in Warwickshire. Originally set up in 2001 to support farmers whose businesses were affected by foot and mouth disease, today, Addington’s main focus is strategic housing for tenant farmers retiring from the industry and affordable housing for agriculturists. For the tenant farmer, when the time comes to retire or relinquish their tenancy, one of the barriers preventing them from doing so is appropriate housing. With all of Howards experience in the gar- ment trade a friend persuaded him to help with his garment shop in Ilkley which had the BA TAT menswear range. Then as the shop became well established the owner decided to close the shop! However, Howard had already begun to think about the flat cap business idea as they had been selling them in the shop and Howard firmly believed that he could make much better ones and 100% BRITISH! And so, The Original Yorkshire Clothing Compa- ny Ltd was started. Everything is made in the UK using only British materials from the peaks to the lin- ings, labels and 100% biodegradable packag- ing. Absolute quality without compromise. There is a fantastic range in colours and style and all the designs are made by Howard as well as the development and printing of the bespoke linings. The caps are 100% wool, Howard works closely with the British Wool Marketing Board on selecting the very best wool. All the linings are 100% Polyester. For all Flat Cap customers, they will also make you bespoke jackets and waistcoats. We use a local tailor in West Yorkshire to make them for our flat cap customers who want a matching outfit to go with their cap. In Autumn they will be launching their 100% lambswool scarf range. Buying these caps couldn’t be easier just go to their website www.toycl.co.uk everything is there to be seen and ex- plained, delivery local nation and world- wide from Ilkley to Ilkeston to India! You simply cannot buy a better cap and here is the added value so to speak. As I mentioned earlier Howard is passionate about the countryside so 10% of all online sales made will go to 3 charitable groups supporting the countryside, rural communi- ties and businesses The Addington Trust, The Farming Community Network and The Rare Breeds Trust who are helping to save heavy horses and other breeds which were around when folks were sent off to War in WW1. With Howard’s historic links to the armed services and the loss of family members in both World Wars he is a keen supporter and contributor to Armed forces charities? A remarkable business and a range of fan- tastic products from a remarkable man. We will keep you up to date on progress and we wish Howard and The Original Yorkshire Clothing Company Ltd continued success.
