38 NSA NORTH APR/MAY 2019 • farmers-mart.co.uk THE LEADING SHOWCASE FOR THE NORTHERN SHEEP INDUSTRY NSA North Sheep 2019 will take place on Wednesday 5th June 2019 at New Hall Farm in Settle, North Yorkshire. With over 6,000 visitors and 200 school children expected, the event will present the latest industry trends, equipment and technology, and deliver a platform for knowledge, discus- sion and debate from a powerhouse of speakers. Included will be a wide range of educa- tional seminars and workshops, with a focal point on key issues, including sheep exports, share farming, the future for Environment Land Management schemes, and sheep health and welfare. Organised by the Northern Region of the National Sheep Association (NSA), this year’s event is being hosted by Frankland Farms, at New Hall Farm, and will highlight how one farming family operates a hugely successful sheep farming enterprise in one of the wettest parts of the UK. Commenting ahead of the event, Heather Stoney-Grayshon, NSA Northern Regional ‘ NSA North Sheep has not been held in this part of the Northern region for 10 years, so on behalf of the association, we are very pleased to be returning ’ Manager and Events Organiser, said: “NSA North Sheep has something for everyone within the sheep industry. The plans are now fully underway for this year’s show- case, and we have an outstanding pro- gramme lined up for the day. “Special thanks must, of course, go to the Frankland family for hosting the event. NSA North Sheep has not been held in this part of the Northern region for 10 years, so on behalf of the association, we are very pleased to be returning. We are also indebted to our sponsors who are fully committed to supporting the industry, and the day ityself.” The event will be officially opened by President of the National Sheep Association and member of the House of Lords, Lord Inglewood, of Hutton in the Forest, Penrith. It will feature 38 Breeds Societies and 155 trade stands from all sectors of the indus- try, presenting products and services in its support. A number of seminars will be held on the day: • ‘Share Farming and/or Obtaining a Ten- ancy’, will be presented by Robyn Peat and Simon Britton of George F White. • Cumbrian sheep farmer John Geldard will chair ‘Sheep Exports’, and will be joined by highly qualified industry representatives, including Phil Hadley, International Market Development Di- rector at AHDB, Mike Gooding, Director at Farmers Fresh, and Rizvan Khalid, Managing Director of Euro Quality Lambs.
