Come paint Plein Air (“Open Air”) canvas paintings with us in the park. Instructor-led painting sessions from The Purple Palette will take place this summer at Hendricks County Parks. Walk to unique locations in our parks, to focus your painting on our beautiful landscapes and historic structures. All experience levels welcome. All supplies and guidance will be provided. This program is outdoors so dress accordingly. Bring water and a snack, and wear comfortable walking shoes. Hiking Terrain Info: Easy to Moderate Difficulty, Gravel and Natural Suraces, Up to 0.5 Miles Recommended Ages: 6+ •Advance Registration Required by June 7 Fee: $30/person • Approximate program duration: 2 hours New this summer! Learn to identify and observe them in the deep night sky above McCloud Nature Park! The Indiana Astronomical society will present a brief informational session, rain or shine, describing the celestial objects to be observed, followed by outdoor stargazing under clear skies only. Learn to use the powerful telescopes provided to share, or bring your own. Appropriate for all ages • Free to Attend No Registration Required Approximate program duration: 2 hours STUFFED ANIMAL SLEEPOVER Saturday, June 16, overnight NATURE PLAY WEEK KICKOFF Saturday June 9, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sodalis Nature Park Is your child spending a little too much time in front of a screen? Let nature be their playground today at the Indiana Children and Nature Network Nature Play Week Kickoff! Meet Park Naturalists for some hands-on nature games and activities in the picnic area, and letterboxing along the trails. Look for other Nature Play Days near you on www.indianachildrenandnature.org. Kids of all ages are invited to bring their stuffed animal to the Nature Center, where the overnight fun will begin at 4 p.m. while the kids are home in bed. The shenanigans, escapades, and all of the excitement will be caught on camera and posted to the Hendricks County Parks & Recreation Facebook page. You’ll be amazed at the fun they’ll have!
