For additional information and to register online, visit MCCLOUD 15 TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION TOAD ABODES Saturday, May 12, 12 p.m. Saturday, May 5 • 10 a.m.- 4p.m. Sodalis Nature Park Make your garden or yard “toadtacular” by decorating your very own toad abode to take home, so that toads will move into your garden’s or yard’s prime real estate. Don’t be a worry-wart; build a home for that special local toad! McCloud Nature Park McCloud Nature Park opened to the public in 2003, and we are celebrating its 15th Anniversary in style! Join us at our flagship park and enjoy live demonstrations, interactive activities, guest speakers, and more! Learn how McCloud Nature Park came to be, how it’s changed in the past decade and a half, and where it’s headed in the future. Blanton Woods Nature Park, Danville Discover short-lived wildflower blooms while hiking the Blanton Woods trails with Hendricks County Park Naturalists! These wildflowers leaf out, bloom, and go to seed in a short time, so come see them while you can! Wear comfortable walking shoes or hiking boots and bring wildflower field guides if you have them. Meet at the north end of Ellis Park, at the intersection of Columbia Street and Sycamore Lane. Hiking Terrain Info: Easy to Difficult Trails, Natural Surfaces, Up to 2 miles Appropriate for all ages • Free to attend • Registration is not required Approximate program duration: 2 hours PLEIN AIR PAINTING Saturday, May 12, 10 a.m. Sodalis Nature Park Want to relax in nature and get in touch with your artistic side? Come paint Plein Air (“Open Air”) canvas paintings with us in the park. Instructor-led painting sessions from The Purple Palette will take place this summer at Hendricks County Parks. Walk to unique locations in our parks, to focus your painting on our beautiful landscapes and historic structures. All experience levels welcome. All supplies and guidance will be provided. This program is outdoors so dress accordingly. Bring water and a snack, and wear comfortable walking shoes. Park Naturalists teach several different cooking techniques, including cast iron ovens, pie makers, and aluminum foil to prepare several dishes. Bring your empty stomach and be ready for some hands-on learning! After this program, you will feel confident making some of these dishes on your own at home or at the campsite!
