Field Trips and Outreach E Opportunities to Explore Nature ducators! Help your students learn about nature by taking advantage of educational field trips and outreach programs offered by Hendricks County Parks & Recreation. Field trips with our Park Naturali sts can help you develop a relationship between your students and the natural environment that will lead to a lifetime love of nature and learning! Hendricks County Parks & Recreation has an amazing array of habitats to discover, and field trips to McCloud or Sodalis Nature Parks provide outstanding experiential learning opportunities that will create an enhanced understanding of the natural environment. Can’t make it to the park? Let us bring nature into your classroom during the winter months with our Environmental Outreach programs. Our Naturalists will captivate your Schedule a Free Field Trip to McCloud or Sodalis Nature Park Educators can choose from many fascinating field trip topics. Field trips are offered primarily in the fall and spring, and can be scheduled at either McCloud or Sodalis Nature Parks. The naturalist-led portion of each field trip lasts 1 to 2 hours, and teachers are encouraged to continue exploring the park after the conclusion of the program. You and your students could enjoy a picnic lunch and a hike on our park trails. Field trips to McCloud can include a visit to the bird-viewing area and interactive exhibits in McCloud’s Nature Center, the new Bee House, the new Arboretum, and the new Wetland Habitat. A bonus at Sodalis Park is the wildlife-viewing platform on the edge of the pond. Our field trip programs have pre-designed learning components featuring subject matter and methods that help fulfill Indiana Academic Standards. All programs are hands-on, fun, FREE, and full of excellent educational information. Bring Nature to Your Classroom with Environmental Outreach Programs Let us bring nature into your classroom during the winter months with our Environmental Outreach programs. Outreach programs are presented from November through February and also have pre- designed learning components featuring subject matter and methods that help fulfill Indiana Academic Standards. 2018-19 winter topics include Turtles, Fireflies, Frogs, and Opossums. Get together with other teachers at your school for a morning or afternoon of outreach programs and we’ll do the traveling, from class-to-class, with a different topic each month that will make nature come alive for your students!
