‘Santorini’
by Rania Lamai
Santorini is part of the Cyclades group of
islands in the Aegean sea. It is actually the remains
of a volcanic eruption (Thera or Minoan eruption)
around 3,600 years ago which is said to have
destroyed the Minoan civilization at its peak on the
island of Crete.
There are many places to visit eg. Akrotiri for
the ancient ruins, Perissa and Kamari for a swim or
Oia for its world famous sunset. Apart from the
volcano and its unique beauty, Santorini is also
known for its tomatoes, eggplants, fava and wines.
‘My first visit to Santorini’
by Aphrodite Valvi
‘
Last summer I went to Santorini with my
family. We stayed in Oia (the best sunset ever!)
and we went shopping in Fyra. I love this place
because I have great memories. I want to visit
Santorini again to see the volcano, too!
‘Our Summer Holidays: Chalkida’
by Panos Veshi, Chris Samaras and
Giurgen Sollakou
We visited Chalkida a few years ago
with our parents. It is a town built by the
sea and we were impressed by the
luxurious
homes,
many
parks,
big
restaurants and buildings.
Chalkida is famous for its delicious sea
food and the tidal currents under the old
bridge which connected the town (and the
island of Euboea, upon which Chalkida is
located) to mainland Greece. They change
every six hours and many people visit the
town to see this happening.
We recommend this place because it’s
beautiful and interesting and the people
are very friendly!
