The European Schools Newspaper, Issue No 4, 47th Primary School of Piraeus ‘Patras’ by Dina Myller My favourite place to visit is Patras. It is famous for for its port and its carnival. I go to Patras every summer with my dad, my mum and my sister. In the mornings, after breakfast, I play with my friends. We play basketball (my favourite), football and computer games. In the afternoons, I go to the cafes by the sea with my friends and my sister. There are many places to visit, like Ano Poli (the upper section) and the medieval castle, the Roman Odeon and the old Turkish baths (still working), the Lighthouse and Byzantine church of Saint Andrew, the 2 nd largest in the working), the Lighthouse and the the byzantine Balkans! Balkans! ‘My holiday diary: Zakynthos’ It’s a great place but I also love it because my by Dimitra Veshi grandfather and my friends live there! I am going to write about Zakynthos, an island I visited during my Easter holidays, which is a fantastic summer destination! We went there on Holy week and we visited the churches of Saint Dionisios (patron saint of the island) and Saint Paraskevi in the city of Zakynthos. We also visited the church of Bochali, which is an amazing place with great view and an old Venetian castle. The best place we visited was Navagio, not because of the shipwreck in the sand but because of the beauty of the place, the blue colour and the clear sea! Zakynthos is also known for the National Marine Park which hosts the endangered caretta-caretta or loggerhead sea turtle. My holidays in Zakynthos was awesome and I had a lot of fun! ‘Mykonos’ by Irene Prifti Last summer I went to Mykonos with my family. It is one of the most famous islands in Cyclades, Greece and attracts a large number of young tourists every year because of its nightlife and the music clubs. Also known as ‘the island of the winds’, Mykonos has many beautiful, clean, blue beaches for instance, Super Paradise, Psarrou, Kalo Livadi, Platis Gialos only to name a few. Some of its most renowned landmarks are the windmills, little Venice and of course the pelicans wandering around the island. Visiting Mykonos was one of the most unforgettable experiences for me! 2
