Messenia offers a lot of adventure. You can go cycling,
climbing, fishing, hiking and do a lot of sea, mountain and
other sports.

There are some good stadiums, football grounds,
basketball courts etc. in Kalamata, such as the
Messenian Stadium, the Municipal Stadium, Tenta (an
indoor gymnasium), mini football 5x5, tennis courts, a
Nautical Club and a swimming pool.

Kalamata is a city in southwestern Peloponnese, the
capital of the prefecture of Messenia and a port in the
southern mainland of Greece. The municipality of
Kalamata has a population of 66.359 inhabitants. It
has a temperate Mediterranean climate with warm
winters and mild summers. Kalamata is the second
largest city in the Peloponnese after Patras. It is an
important urban, economic and commercial center of
the region and the administrative center of the
prefecture of Messenia. It has a vibrant nightlife both
in winter and summer - in winter at the various
taverns and bars in the city’ s historic center, while in
summer in the clubs and beach bars by the sea and in
Verga, a suburb built in the foothills of Mount
Taygetos where there are wonderful bars and clubs
with spectacular views of the sea and the town of
Kalamata. Kalamata has a TEI (Technological
Educational Institute) and faculties of the University of
Peloponnese. The town has complete and modern
sports facilities, where everyone can work out. Finally
it has a new, modern hospital as well as an
international airport.
