MY AREA
KALAMATA
By Nick K.
Kalamata is a wonderful city. It is
situated in the south of Peloponnese
and it is built next to the sea. It has
some of the best beaches in Greece, an
amazing view and also it is popular for
its delicious food. That's why many
tourists choose Kalamata for their
summer destinations.

LOCATION and SURROUNDINGS
POPULATION and CLIMATE by Kostas and Alex
by Vassiliki, Andrew and Daniel
There are about 70.000 people that live in Kalamata and
almost 160.000 people that live in Messenia.
Kalamata, 238 km southwest of Athens,
is the capital and central port of
Messenia, a prefecture in the south of
Peloponnese which is a peninsula in
Greece. It is situated at the site of
ancient Farai. Around Kalamata there
are sandy beaches, mountains with
forests,
cultivating
land
and
archaeological monuments.
The climate is mild. It is hot in summer and it often rains in
winter but it rarely snows in our city.
