PLACE & TIME Many buildings that had withstood the test of time have a rich array of historical elements and artifacts that are worth preserving. They evoke nostalgia to those who have used them. However when they are converted to new uses they need to be transformed to meet present day user and economic requirements. It is important to retain elements of past glory in such buildings Fusan clubhouse was designed in this context. It had a rich architectural and interior heritage and some of these were adopted in our design. Suzhou Art Centre is located in a historically significant part of China. Many imagery of its heritage were reinterpreted in the interior design of the concert and common areas. The design for the new Hyatt Hotel at the Shanghai Expo site uses textile that Shanghai was known for as the main design elements. The project in Foshan presents opportunity to introduce traditional elements which were reinterpreted in the design.
