FREEDOM OF SPEECH?

2017, Charlottesville Rally: a group of white supremacists protesting
and a resistance from Black Lives Matter. People get hurt in the end.
Some say this unfortunate could have been avoided if the prejudice
group was prohibited to spread such offensive ideas, but is it really
true? No, I say. Limiting the speech of anyone, independently of what
they believe in, is bad it not only going against the inalienable rights
and the country’s constitution, but also creating a way of dictating the
ideas people should or shouldn’t believe in.
Unlike the Brazilian laws, which consider racism a crime, the US
constitution is based on John Locke’s ideals: the State should assure,
simply, the inalienable rights, property, liberty and life. Therefore, the
United States is based on a liberal ideology, giving a lot more value to
freedom in general, which is completely fair and should be followed by
society. Furthermore, the country’s population agrees with the laws,
