Sister invited to share insights and ideas about needs & strategies from multilingual students

"Today I received an email from my professor inviting me to join with other professors from the College of Education, who have been brainstorming about ways to sustain and develop pre-service teachers’ multilingualism.

She said: "We’d love to gain some insights and ideas about needs and strategies from our multilingual students. As we organizes these efforts in a more concerted way next semester, would you be willing to be included in some of these efforts (inclusion means participation in a couple of conversations)? No pressure, but I think it would benefit us tremendously to have you be part of those conversations. Thank you

so much for your thoughtful reflections last class on your work to assist DACA students."

She said that several EDFI 300 students let her know that my comments helped to bring “home” the ideas of immigration and education to USC and raised their awareness of ways to become involved. She furthermore said "In my mind, this kind of sharing—and willingness to share—helps us to appreciate the various funds of knowledge in class and the ways we can all be students and teachers in one learning context." Kappa Delta Chi has given me courage to speak up and I am so thankful for my sisters!"
