National Alumnae Getaway

By Angelic Garay,

Alpha Zeta Alumnae, VP of Alumnae Affairs

It is with great pleasure that the National Alumnae Association hosted the first ever NAA Getaway in

Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada on January 27-29, 2017. The weekend event brought members from across the country to do what we love most: service and sisterhood.

The kick-off event started by having a romantic dinner at an Italian eatery at Town Square, Las Vegas’ upscale, open air shopping and entertainment development. It was followed by going to the Fremont Street Experience, a 5-block entertainment district in historic downtown Las Vegas, and enjoying the world’s largest video screen, Viva Vision. The next morning, we traveled by bus to 3-Square Food Bank, where we spent all morning packaging meal supplies for underrepresented populations including children and the elderly. This event truly showed our colors as members of KDChi. Once we worked an appetite, we enjoy the well-known fast food of Vegas – a buffet at the Main Street, Downtown! For the afternoon, we headed to view the Red Rock formations outside the city, and get a breath of fresh air. To wrap up day, we watched the sunset from the world’s largest Ferris wheel, the High Roller at the Linq.

Overall, we spent time not only getting to meet new sisters, but see the beauty of a different community. We cannot thank enough for everyone who was able to join us that weekend; your involvement is what created such an incredible experience! Also, huge shout out to the Southern Nevada Alumnae Chapter for all their help in navigating the city, as well as the NAA Getaway Committee who pulled it all together!

Just leaves me wondering… where we will go next! #GoNAA

Graduation. The time in a persons life where you can finally see the fruits of your labor. All those late nights (and early mornings!) of studying. The 8 am classes, the mid-terms, finals and every tough assignment in between. Sometimes it feels like this day would never come. And then some how, some way, the day is here. All of your family & friends have been cheering you on all these years, and now you get to show them how all the hard work has paid off.

So here is to the class of 2018, you did it!
