The Edmonton Muse October 2018 | Page 31

The Deadmonton crew had their work cut out for them this year as they had to move and set up in a brand new location. They did not disappoint. In fact, it has got to be their best yet.

They are now located at 7031 Gateway Blvd. This place has a decent amount of parking and is fairly easy to get to. At the end of the journey, you exit the haunted house into their Halloween store and get a chance to snap back into reality. This store is equipped with some awesome items for your costumes!

Now to give you a review without giving too much detail...

I went for media night, which was their first night. We were their test subjects for their very first round in this new place.

The line up inside the first tent was already haunting. The dim lighting, the rusted metal fences. I overheard a comment from one of the other guests, 'This is unsettling. It's like they are herding us in like cattle!"

They were right! As the actors patrolled the lines, the growling and clanging that took place just within an ears distance, the unsettling feeling was legitimate and the fear that builds up in the pit of your stomach when you don't know what to expect was there.

It was all about the detail. The incredible amount of effort that went into every single moment was so well thought out and planned that you can tell these guys are experts in this field. Let's not forget that they don't get to have an entire year to set this up, but it sure felt like they did.

The costumes and actors were amazing. Each and every room was thorough and undeniably horrific. Each space touched a different sense and a different genre of horror, paranoia and phobia. But they also did it in a way that was never cheesy or expected.

Preying on fear as if it were a feast, this haunted house devours your being for the entire time you are in it.
