The Edmonton Muse November 2017 | Page 32

Born in Grande Prairie and now based in Edmonton, Celeigh Cardinal is climbing her way to the top of the lists and this woman deserves every bit of success coming her way. Celeigh is nothing short of amazing in lyrics, style, performance and of course, her marvelous voice. But she is more than just a musician. This young woman has many achievements behind her music career and dedication to her community and heritage:

In 2010, Celeigh was awarded with an Aboriginal Youth Role Model award in Grande

Prairie for her dedication to the Arts, music and creativity .She was also elected to be the Cultural Ambassador for the 2010 Arctic Winter Games.

In October of 2016 she received an ATB Listens grant as part of a program to encourage her fellow Alberta musicians.

The diversity brought through this album, Everything And Nothing At All, really highlights Celeighs incredible medly in voice and style. The album itself takes you on a musical journey through Celeighs heartfelt lyrics. Love and passion really are the driving force behind her songs and she writes them well. Every tune is different in style and genre, proving that she can sing virtually anything!

The first song, Come Down, brings out a bit of bluesy rock with both soft and powerful tones.

Would You Be My Dog is probably my favorite. This rockabilly inspired swing is going to get your toes tappin' to these classic riffs.

It slows down for There Ain't No Way, where Celeigh sings about appreciating the love that she has and how she will not let it go. It is an easy and relatable song to listen to that will surly strum your heart strings.

One Man really changes the pace. It starts off as an acoustic tune with harmonies from her band, then blasts into a steady rock song. A great build up and story makes this a great melody.

I feel like the prairie really comes out in this folk-country song. Nathaniel brings me back to older country music. This is a song for the ones that loved and lost.

Be My Man picks up the pace and sets the grounds of a woman on a mission. No more broken hearts, she is taking control and moving on. A classic jazzy-blues with some attitude.

Everything really caught me off guard but, in a really good way. This song brought in a raggae-ska esque to her already widely diverse album. Mixed with her personal style made this song refreshing and impressive.

Winter brings on a very soft element of Celeigh. A mellow but powerful through lyrics.

The last song, Wrap It Up, does just that for the album. This funk inspired number really finishes off the album on a high note and wanting more!
