Soap Box Duo are very busy and you could still be forgiven if you didn’t know who they are. As things are moving along, the smaller shows, that are many, are growing to larger corporate affairs, fundraisers and tours. They recently played Stony Plain’s Summer Sessions free concert series in the park and were part of a record breaking season. Each show had more and more in attendance and the set a record of 280 on the lawn which stood until the finale in the series.

They are, as the saying goes, the ramblin’ man. They were quickly off to Nashville for a conference that afforded them more than just the opportunity to attend seminars. They enlisted the help of friends, playing two showcases and working on numerous co-writes. From writers to producers to performers, they gathered so much information that they have yet been able to apply all of what they have learned.

There was so much more to this interview than can be put on paper. By the time we were done, almost an hour had passed. And this brings us back to Haiti. Jenesia has just made her fourth trip, taking Alexander for the first time. She has so fallen in love with the people and the beauty that can be found outside of the destruction, that the couple has put together information on adoptions. Is it in the future? Only time will tell as the two chase after their many dreams. For now, they will hold a benefit concert to raise funds and awareness for the people of Haiti. On this trip, they took a videographer and have filmed a mini documentary that will preview at the concert. What can you expect? Well, the event will be at the Horizon Stage in Spruce Grove on November 30th. Along with the video, the first set will be Soap Box Duo, doing what they do best, kick start the crowd. In this case though, they are not an opening act. They will retake the stage after an intermission and come back with a full band. They event is currently about a third sold so you still have time to get tickets. You can get them from the Horizon box office or check out Soap Box’s Facebook page for more information. And don’t think they will be resting on the laurels. The celebration of their first large venue, soft seat show will be short lived as they have a corporate gig the next day. Not enough? Stay tuned this week for an announcement that will take them out of the country.
