What Are Push-Ups?

A push-up is a full body exercise that focuses on strengthening your core. A push-up will touch on your triceps, your biceps, your shoulders, your back, your chest and your midsection as a whole.

The Breakdown

Setting Up: Place your hands palm down slightly wider than shoulder width apart. Engage your delts and your chest to prevent shrugging of your neck. Your feet should be set a comfortable distance away from each other. Think about a line running from the top of your head all the way down through your heels to make sure you’re aligning yourself straight. Engage your glutes and your abs as you slowly lower yourself with your arms until your elbows are at 90 degrees or less, pause slightly at the bottom before pressing yourself back up to starting position (also known as your plank position).

Functionality

Push-ups can increase functional mobility strength, improve muscular strength, enhance your cardiovascular ability, build shoulder strength and grow overall core strength.
