W: You’re the owner of MaximumFit Strength and Conditioning, tell us a little bit about this business and what it is you’re mainly trying to achieve?

M:.My company is MaximumFit Strength and Conditioning and I am trying to make weight lifting great again. For many years in North America, traditional weight lifting has been largely ignored due to other sports. Hockey and Football being a few examples. Now with the surge of social media at your fingertip, people are finally starting to appreciate and realize the amazing sport that Olympic Weightlifting really is.

The sport of Olympic Lifting has been around for decades but is very commonly overpowered by the popularity of other more mainstream sports such as football, hockey or basketball. This doesn’t make the sport any less popular. I’ve met a handful of olympic lifters and the dedication that these athletes have to this sport is like no other I’ve seen. Then there are the athletes turned coaches that bring their dedication to a whole new level and there are only a few that grow a passion for it so strong, that they’re willing to offer it as a service...for free. Max Larocque being one of those people.

W: Thank you so much for taking the time to sit with us to answer a few of our questions. So please, tell us a little bit about yourself.

M: My name is Max Larocque, I have lived in the greater Edmonton area for almost 15 years now. Previously I’ve lived in 7 other cities/towns throughout Canada due to my dads career as an RCMP officer. Moving so frequently and constantly having to make new friends has largely carried over to my career in personal training. Meeting new people is easily one of the best parts of my job which is why I have gladly been training for over 8 years now.
