W: I feel like a lot of women can relate to that so much. So how long have the both of you been competing?

C: We both have been competing for 3 years. We found love for the sport separately and it has only helped create a deeper connection between the two of us.

W: That is such a beautiful thing to hear. What is one of the most challenging things you face today when it comes to prepping for a competition?

L: Pizza…..In all honesty I think that both of us miss the social aspects of life; yes you can go out, but eating and drinking doesn't really pair well with a successful prep. Being together with someone who also shares such a strong passion for this sport definitely makes our prep a little easier.

W: Haha once again I feel like so many athletes who are in the same field can relate! So What type of meal plan do you guys follow and are they rather similiar to each other?

C: Both of us have played around with IIFYM but didn’t find that our bodies responded well to it, so we both follow a typical bodybuilding diet. Obviously we have two very different diet plans tailored to our specific goals. I’m fed pretty generously during my preps where poor Lauren seems to get struggle with her tiny portions, haha.

W: So how did you guys meet and were both of you already competing before you met or did you both start competing after you met?

C: We actually met through social media. I’ve always had a fondness for Lauren as we were Facebook friends. One day I worked the courage up to message her and here we are today.

Lauren and I both competed previous to meeting. But it was when we started seeing each other through our first prep we realized how much fun and supportive prepping together could be, which in turn helped us get through prepping for four shows together.

W: In the world of fitness, is there someone you idolize?

C: Strangely enough it’s another fitness couple. I know for myself I’m a fan of Steve Cooke, I love his energy and positive attitude towards the sport. I also find it pretty incredible how interactive he is with his fans and followers.

L: I’m a Courtney King fan through and through. Before she won the Olympia last year I was following her fitness journey. Watching her grow as an athlete and share her personal struggles with the sport gave me someone to relate and look up to. The fact that Steve and Courtney are dating now is pretty cool.

W: What has been the most memorable part of your life as a competitor thus far?

C: The most memorable would have to be when Lauren and I shared the stage for the first time in 2014, and both placed fourth respectively in what we would like to call our “first” competition, haha. The previous stage appearances were trial runs, haha. Then we flew to Mexico to enjoy the beach shredded and enjoy life outside of the gym and prep.

W: Perhaps it’s the romantic in me but that is such an amazing story. Unfortunately we have to end the interview but before we do I’d like to ask if you guys had a message you would like to send out into the world, what would it be?

C & L: Anything is possible, set goals, work hard and things will happen. As cliche as it sounds, never give up, there were times that both of us have wanted to call it quits during our fitness journey, but we both wouldn’t be where we are today if we did.
